i love this commercial!
i tricked pete last week by saying "oh i'd only like half a cup" after he brought me a (full) cup of (decaf) tea. for a second he was alarmed, but then he laughed. the key to tricking your friends and partners in this way is to keep a straight face and pretend you're just saying something regular. this often works with pete! he's fun to trick, and a good sport about it too!
also, i was watching "the facts of life" last week and on one episode mrs. garrett imitated mrs. oleson and said something about her mountain-grown coffee. i watched a couple of the old folger's / mrs. oleson commercials on youtube but i don't remember these secondary characters, some of whom are kind of jerks! like the snotty husband featured here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ed3vswxJKgI
i must have blocked those dumb characters out of my fond memories.

Ha ha ha, the internet, now home to old commercials we used to ignore!
i watched this commercial like 5 times, and there's something strange about it.
if you'll note, the lady - after requesting "just a half a cup" - takes a sip of her Brim coffee. But it isn't until AFTER the gentleman caller tells her that it's Brim decaffeinated coffee does she take what I call "the reveal" sip, and say MMMMM.
Now, why does she wait until her second sip? What was it about the first sip that didn't quite satisfy? Is Brim trying to pull one over on us?
I feel the wool over my eyes, and I don't like it.
I used to work with a guy named M. Brim. When he was on the phone leaving his name for someone, he would say "Brim...as in the coffee."
That is really quite lovely, morning, the boat, her hair--truly how I wish my hair looked...
